History[edit | edit source]

Ealing Hospital was officially opened in 1979, replacing the older King Edward Memorial Hospital and other local hospitals. It was initially managed by the Ealing District Health Authority. In 1992, it became a NHS trust, and in 2014, it merged with the North West London Hospitals NHS Trust to form the London North West University Healthcare NHS Trust.

Services[edit | edit source]

Ealing Hospital provides a wide range of services, including emergency, maternity care, paediatrics, surgery, and outpatient services. It also has a number of specialist services, such as cardiology, gastroenterology, neurology, and rheumatology.

Facilities[edit | edit source]

The hospital has over 400 beds, a 24-hour Accident and Emergency department, and a modern Intensive Care Unit. It also has a maternity unit with birthing pools and a neonatal intensive care unit.

Performance[edit | edit source]

Ealing Hospital has been rated as 'Requires Improvement' by the Care Quality Commission in their most recent inspection. However, it was praised for its caring and compassionate staff.

Future[edit | edit source]

The future of Ealing Hospital has been the subject of debate, with proposals to downgrade the A&E department and other services. However, these plans have been met with opposition from local residents and politicians.
