Eburnamonine
Eburnamonine is a vinca alkaloid and a chemical compound that is found in Tabernaemontana species. It is named after the Eburna, a genus of sea snails, and monomer, a molecule that can join together with other molecules to form a polymer.
Chemical Properties[edit | edit source]
Eburnamonine is a monomeric vinca alkaloid. It is a derivative of Vincamine, which is a naturally occurring alkaloid found in the leaves of Vinca minor (lesser periwinkle). Eburnamonine is a vasodilator and is used in the treatment of cerebrovascular disorders.
Pharmacology[edit | edit source]
Eburnamonine acts as a vasodilator and increases blood flow to the brain. This makes it useful in the treatment of cerebrovascular disorders. It is also used in the treatment of hypertension and angina pectoris.
Side Effects[edit | edit source]
Like all medications, Eburnamonine can cause side effects. These can include nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, and abdominal pain. In rare cases, it can cause hypotension (low blood pressure), bradycardia (slow heart rate), and arrhythmia (irregular heart rhythm).
