Edgemere, Queens
Edgemere, Queens is a neighborhood located in the New York City borough of Queens. It is part of Queens Community Board 14. Edgemere is bordered by the neighborhoods of Arverne to the west and Far Rockaway to the east.

Edgemere was originally known as New Venice, a name given by real estate developers in the late 19th century. The neighborhood was later renamed Edgemere by developers seeking to attract buyers with the name's English connotations.
Geography[edit | edit source]
Edgemere is located on the Rockaway Peninsula, a landform between Jamaica Bay and the Atlantic Ocean. The neighborhood is primarily residential, with a mix of single-family homes, multi-family homes, and apartment buildings.
Demographics[edit | edit source]
As of the 2010 United States Census, Edgemere had a population of approximately 6,500 residents. The neighborhood is diverse, with a mix of African American, Hispanic, White, Asian, and other racial and ethnic groups.
Transportation[edit | edit source]
Edgemere is served by the New York City Subway's A train, which provides service to Manhattan and other parts of Queens. The neighborhood is also served by several bus routes operated by the Metropolitan Transportation Authority.
Education[edit | edit source]
Edgemere is part of the New York City Department of Education's District 27. The neighborhood is home to several public schools, including P.S. 105 The Bay School and P.S. 253.
Notable people[edit | edit source]
Several notable individuals have hailed from Edgemere, including rapper Stack Bundles and former professional basketball player Greg Jackson.
