Edward Flatau

Edward Flatau (1868–1932) was a prominent Polish neurologist known for his significant contributions to the field of neurology. He was born in Łódź, Poland, and studied medicine at the University of Warsaw before pursuing further studies in neurology in Paris, France. Flatau's work focused on various neurological disorders, particularly movement disorders and epilepsy.

Flatau's research on movement disorders led to the identification of what is now known as "Flatau's law," which describes the relationship between the direction of head movement and the side of the brain lesion in cases of hemiplegia. This law has been instrumental in the diagnosis and localization of brain lesions in patients with movement disorders.

In addition to his work on movement disorders, Flatau also made significant contributions to the understanding of epilepsy. He conducted research on the classification of epileptic seizures and their underlying causes, paving the way for advancements in the diagnosis and treatment of epilepsy.

Throughout his career, Flatau published numerous papers and articles on various neurological topics, solidifying his reputation as a leading figure in the field of neurology.
