Edwin Russell Durno (January 26, 1899 – November 20, 1976) was an American physician and politician from Oregon. He served as a U.S. Representative from Oregon's 4th congressional district.

Early life and education[edit | edit source]

Edwin Durno was born in Albany, Oregon, on January 26, 1899. He attended public schools in Oregon and later enrolled at the University of Oregon. Durno graduated from the University of Oregon Medical School (now Oregon Health & Science University) in 1926 with a degree in medicine.

Medical career[edit | edit source]

After completing his medical degree, Durno began practicing medicine in Medford, Oregon. He became a well-respected physician in the community and was involved in various medical organizations. Durno also served as a member of the Oregon State Medical Society.

Political career[edit | edit source]

Durno's political career began when he was elected to the Oregon State Senate, where he served from 1959 to 1961. He was then elected as a Republican to the United States House of Representatives, representing Oregon's 4th congressional district from January 3, 1961, to January 3, 1963. During his tenure in Congress, Durno focused on healthcare issues and veterans' affairs.

After serving one term in Congress, Durno returned to his medical practice in Medford, Oregon. He continued to be active in the medical community until his retirement. Edwin Durno passed away on November 20, 1976, in Medford, Oregon.
