Egyptians are the inhabitants and citizens of Egypt sharing a common culture and a dialect of Arabic.

The history of the Egyptians dates back to the ancient Egyptian civilization. This civilization was among the earliest in world history. It was concentrated along the lower reaches of the Nile River where the Egyptians developed a settled agricultural economy and a sophisticated central government.

Culture[edit | edit source]

Egyptian culture has six thousand years of recorded history. Ancient Egypt was among the earliest civilizations and for millennia, Egypt maintained a strikingly complex and stable culture that influenced later cultures of Europe, the Middle East and other African countries.

Religion[edit | edit source]

The religion of ancient Egypt was a complex system of polytheistic beliefs and rituals. It was an integral part of ancient Egyptian society. It centered on the Egyptians' interaction with many deities believed to be present in, and in control of, the world.

Language[edit | edit source]

The official language of Egypt is Arabic, which was adopted in the 7th century and has been the language of Egypt's Islamic period since the completion of the Arab conquest of Egypt by the Rashidun Caliphate.
