Eliezer Masliah is a prominent American neuroscientist and neuropathologist known for his extensive research in the fields of neurodegenerative diseases, particularly Alzheimer's disease and Parkinson's disease. Eliezer Masliah was born in Mexico City, Mexico. He pursued his medical degree at the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM), where he developed an interest in the pathology of neurodegenerative diseases. Following his graduation, Masliah moved to the United States to further his studies and research.

Masliah began his career in the United States at the University of California, San Diego (UCSD), where he joined the faculty in the Department of Neurosciences. During his tenure at UCSD, he established a laboratory that became renowned for its work on the pathogenesis of neurodegenerative diseases.

In 2016, Masliah was appointed as the Director of the Division of Neuroscience at the National Institute on Aging (NIA), part of the National Institutes of Health (NIH).
