Emperor Seinei (Script error: The function "nihongo" does not exist. ) was the 22nd Emperor of Japan, according to the traditional order of succession. His reign is conventionally considered to have been from 480 to 484.

Life[edit | edit source]

Emperor Seinei was the son of Emperor Yūryaku and Kusaka no Hatabihime. His given name was Shiraka. He ascended to the throne following the death of his father, Emperor Yūryaku.

Reign[edit | edit source]

During his reign, Emperor Seinei is noted for his efforts to consolidate power and stabilize the court. However, his reign was relatively short, lasting only four years. He did not have any children, which led to a succession crisis upon his death.

Succession[edit | edit source]

After Emperor Seinei's death, the throne was succeeded by Emperor Kenzō, who was a distant relative. The lack of direct heirs from Seinei's line marked a significant point in the history of the Yamato dynasty.

Burial[edit | edit source]

Emperor Seinei is traditionally venerated at his misasagi (mausoleum) at Kawachi no Shinaga no naka no o no misasagi in present-day Osaka Prefecture.
