Enrekang Regency
Enrekang Regency is a regency located in the South Sulawesi province of Indonesia. It is known for its diverse culture, rich history, and unique geographical features.

Enrekang Regency is situated in the mountainous region of South Sulawesi. It is bordered by Tana Toraja Regency to the north, Pangkep Regency to the south, Sidenreng Rappang Regency and Pinrang Regency to the east, and Mamuju Regency to the west. The regency covers an area of approximately 1,786.94 square kilometers.

The history of Enrekang Regency is intertwined with the broader history of South Sulawesi. The region was part of the Bugis kingdom, which was one of the major powers in the Indonesian archipelago during the pre-colonial period.
Demographics[edit | edit source]
As of the 2020 Census, the population of Enrekang Regency was approximately 192,553. The majority of the population are of the Buginese and Makassarese ethnic groups, with a significant minority of Toraja people.

The economy of Enrekang Regency is primarily based on agriculture, with rice, corn, cacao, and coffee being the main crops. The regency is also known for its production of palm sugar, which is a major source of income for many local farmers.

The culture of Enrekang Regency is a blend of Buginese, Makassarese, and Toraja traditions. The region is known for its traditional dance, music, and handicrafts. The Bambapuang festival, which celebrates the harvest season, is one of the major cultural events in the regency.

Enrekang Regency is divided into 14 districts, each headed by a district head. The regency is governed by a Regent, who is elected by the people for a five-year term.
