Entrepreneur is an individual who creates a new business, bearing most of the risks and enjoying most of the rewards. The entrepreneur is commonly seen as an innovator, a source of new ideas, goods, services, and business/or procedures.

Definition[edit | edit source]

Entrepreneurs play a key role in any economy, using the skills and initiative necessary to anticipate needs and bring good new ideas to market. Entrepreneurs who prove to be successful in taking on the risks of a startup are rewarded with profits, fame and continued growth opportunities.

Characteristics[edit | edit source]

Entrepreneurs are characterized by their initiative and enterprise in seeking out new opportunities for business. They are risk-takers who pursue opportunities that others may fail to recognize or may view as threats. Other common characteristics of entrepreneurs include:

  • Innovation: Entrepreneurs often come up with new ideas and innovations. They are creative individuals who are always on the lookout for new opportunities and innovative solutions to problems.
  • Risk-taking: Entrepreneurs are willing to take risks in order to achieve their goals. This does not mean that they are reckless; rather, successful entrepreneurs are able to assess and manage risk.
  • Persistence: Entrepreneurs are persistent and are able to deal with challenges and failures. They are determined individuals who are willing to work hard to achieve their goals.
  • Leadership: Entrepreneurs are often good leaders. They are able to motivate and inspire their team, and they are able to make tough decisions when necessary.

Types of Entrepreneurs[edit | edit source]

There are several types of entrepreneurs, including:

  • Serial Entrepreneur: These entrepreneurs continuously come up with new ideas and start new businesses.
  • Social Entrepreneur: These entrepreneurs create businesses to solve social issues and problems.
