Epileptogenesis is the process by which a normal brain develops epilepsy. It is a complex process that involves a variety of biological changes, including neuronal death, neurogenesis, changes in the expression of ion channels, and alterations in neuronal networks.   • Alterations in neuronal networks: The connections between neurons can also be altered in epileptogenesis, leading to abnormal patterns of brain activity.

The treatment of epileptogenesis involves preventing the onset of epilepsy in individuals at risk. This can be achieved through the use of antiepileptic drugs, which can help to reduce the likelihood of seizures. However, these drugs are not always effective, and research is ongoing to develop new treatments.
