Epoetin delta
Epoetin delta is a recombinant human erythropoietin (rHuEPO) used primarily in the treatment of anemia, particularly in patients with chronic kidney disease (CKD) and those undergoing chemotherapy. It is a glycoprotein that stimulates erythropoiesis, the process of red blood cell production, by acting on the erythropoietin receptor in the bone marrow.
Mechanism of Action[edit | edit source]
Epoetin delta functions by mimicking the action of endogenous erythropoietin, a hormone produced by the kidneys in response to hypoxia (low oxygen levels). It binds to the erythropoietin receptor on erythroid progenitor cells in the bone marrow, promoting their survival, proliferation, and differentiation into mature red blood cells. This process increases the oxygen-carrying capacity of the blood, alleviating symptoms of anemia.

Epoetin delta is indicated for the treatment of anemia associated with:
