Esfarayen is a city in and the capital of Esfarayen County, in North Khorasan Province, Iran. At the 2006 census, its population was 35,821, in 9,093 families.

Esfarayen is located in the northeastern part of Iran, in the North Khorasan Province. It is surrounded by mountains and has a cold semi-arid climate.
