Essex County is a county located in the northeastern part of New Jersey, United States. As of the 2020 Census, the county's population was approximately 825,000, making it the state's third-most populous county. Its county seat is Newark, which is also the largest city in the state.
Essex County is part of the New York Metropolitan Area and is primarily residential, with the population being heavily urban.
