Eurasian
Eurasian is a term that is used to describe individuals of mixed European and Asian descent. The term is primarily used in anthropological, ethnological and genetic research, but is also commonly used in sociological contexts.
History[edit | edit source]
The term "Eurasian" was first coined in the 19th century to describe the offspring of European colonists and Asian natives. The term has since evolved to encompass a broader range of mixed-race individuals, including those of East Asian, South Asian, and Southeast Asian descent.
Demographics[edit | edit source]
Eurasians can be found in many parts of the world, including Europe, Asia, the Americas, and Australia. The largest populations of Eurasians are found in the former Soviet Union, particularly in Russia and Kazakhstan, and in the former European colonies in Asia, such as the Philippines, Malaysia, and Singapore.
Genetics[edit | edit source]
Genetic studies have shown that Eurasians have a unique genetic makeup that is distinct from both their European and Asian ancestors. This is due to the fact that Eurasians are a hybrid population, meaning that they have inherited genes from both European and Asian populations.
Culture[edit | edit source]
Eurasian culture is a blend of European and Asian influences, reflecting the diverse heritage of Eurasian individuals. This can be seen in various aspects of Eurasian culture, including language, religion, cuisine, and art.
