The European Molecular Biology Organization (EMBO) is an organization of more than 1,800 leading researchers that promotes excellence in the life sciences. The organization was founded in 1964 and is headquartered in Heidelberg, Germany. EMBO's mission is to support talented researchers, stimulate the exchange of scientific information, and help build a research environment where scientists can achieve their best work.

History

EMBO was established in 1964 by a group of European scientists, including Max Perutz, John Kendrew, and François Jacob, who recognized the need for a European organization to promote molecular biology.
