Every Child by Two

From WikiMD's Wellness Encyclopedia

Every Child By Two (ECBT) is a non-profit organization based in the United States that advocates for the timely immunization of all children by the age of two. The organization was co-founded in 1991 by former First Lady Rosalynn Carter and former First Lady of Arkansas Betty Bumpers.

History[edit | edit source]

ECBT was established in response to a measles outbreak in the late 1980s that resulted in the deaths of hundreds of children. Carter and Bumpers, who had previously worked together on immunization initiatives during their time as First Ladies, decided to create an organization dedicated to ensuring that all children receive their recommended vaccines by the age of two.

Mission and Activities[edit | edit source]

The mission of ECBT is to protect all children from vaccine-preventable diseases by raising parental awareness, increasing immunization rates, and advocating for policies that promote vaccine access. ECBT works with a variety of stakeholders, including healthcare providers, public health agencies, and policy makers, to achieve its goals.

ECBT's activities include public education campaigns, policy advocacy, and research. The organization provides resources for parents about the importance of timely immunization and the safety of vaccines. It also advocates for policies that increase access to vaccines, such as the Vaccines for Children Program, which provides free vaccines to children who cannot afford them.

Impact[edit | edit source]

ECBT has been recognized for its contributions to improving child health in the United States. The organization's efforts have contributed to significant increases in immunization rates among children under the age of two. In addition, ECBT's advocacy has helped to shape policies that have expanded access to vaccines for children in need.
