Fibro Fog

Fibro fog, also known as fibromyalgia fog and brain fog, is a term used to describe the cognitive difficulties reported by individuals with fibromyalgia. These cognitive difficulties are characterized by a state of confusion, forgetfulness, and lack of focus and mental clarity. It is not a medical condition on its own, but rather a symptom of fibromyalgia.

Symptoms[edit | edit source]

The symptoms of fibro fog can vary from person to person, but they often include:

  • Difficulty concentrating or paying attention
  • Trouble remembering new information
  • Feeling confused or disoriented
  • Difficulty speaking or finding the right words
  • Trouble multitasking
  • Feeling mentally tired or fatigued

Causes[edit | edit source]

The exact cause of fibro fog is not known. However, it is believed to be related to the changes in the nervous system that occur in fibromyalgia. Other factors that may contribute to fibro fog include sleep disorders, depression, and side effects of medication.

Treatment[edit | edit source]

There is no specific treatment for fibro fog. However, managing the underlying fibromyalgia can help to reduce the severity of fibro fog. This can include medication, physical therapy, and lifestyle changes such as regular exercise, a healthy diet, and good sleep hygiene.
