From WikiMD's Wellness Encyclopedia

Fiji Water is a brand of bottled water that is derived, bottled, and shipped from Fiji. It is available in 330 ml, 500 ml, 700 ml, 1 liter, and 1.5 liter bottles. According to marketing materials, the water comes from an artesian aquifer in the Yaqara Valley of Viti Levu.

History[edit | edit source]

Fiji Water was founded in 1996 by Canadian businessman David Gilmour, who had previously been involved in the creation of the South Pacific Hotel Corporation and the development of a gold mine in Fiji. The company began bottling water in December 1996 and shipped its first bottles in early 1997.

Source[edit | edit source]

The water in Fiji Water comes from an artesian aquifer in the Yaqara Valley of Viti Levu. According to the company, the water is drawn from an underground aquifer that is protected and preserved from external elements until it is bottled. The water is naturally filtered and purified through volcanic rock, which imparts a unique mineral profile to the water.

Production[edit | edit source]

Fiji Water bottles its water at source in the Yaqara Valley of Viti Levu. The company operates a state-of-the-art bottling facility that adheres to strict quality and safety standards. The water is bottled in square-shaped, clear plastic bottles that are a distinctive feature of the brand.

Environmental Impact[edit | edit source]

The environmental impact of Fiji Water has been a subject of criticism and scrutiny. The carbon footprint of transporting the water from Fiji to its primary markets in the United States has been highlighted by environmental activists. In addition, the plastic bottles used by the company contribute to plastic waste, a significant environmental issue.

In Popular Culture[edit | edit source]

Fiji Water has been featured in numerous films, TV shows, and music videos, often as a symbol of luxury and status. It has been endorsed by several celebrities and has been served at high-profile events such as the Golden Globe Awards.
