Florida International University
Florida International University (FIU) is a public research university located in Miami, Florida, United States. It is a member of the State University System of Florida and has been designated as having "Emerging Preeminence." FIU is the largest university in South Florida, the 2nd-largest in Florida, and the 4th-largest in the United States by enrollment. Established in 1965, it has quickly grown to become a leading institution for research, innovation, and education.

FIU was founded in 1965 following a bill passed by the Florida Legislature, which aimed at providing higher education opportunities in the southeastern region of the state. The university opened its doors in 1972 with a campus in West Miami-Dade County, which remains its main campus.
