The company was formed in 2007 through the merger of two breweries: Fordham Brewing Company and Old Dominion Brewing Company. The Fordham Brewing Company was originally founded in 1995 in Annapolis, Maryland. It was named after Benjamin Fordham, who was granted the first brewing license in the colony of Maryland in 1703.
