Forest County is a county located in the U.S. state of Wisconsin. As of the 2010 census, the population was 9,304. Its county seat is Crandon. The county was created in 1885 and organized in 1887. It is named after the forests contained within its limits.

Howard Young Medical Center is a general medical and surgical hospital located in Woodruff, Wisconsin. It is part of the Ascension Wisconsin network of healthcare facilities. The hospital provides a range of services including emergency care, surgical services, diagnostic imaging, and rehabilitation services.
In 2020, Howard Young Medical Center was recognized by the National Rural Health Association as a Top 20 Critical Access Hospital for Quality.
Other Healthcare Facilities[edit | edit source]
In addition to these two main facilities, Forest County is also served by a number of other healthcare providers. These include the Forest County Potawatomi Health & Wellness Center, which provides primary care services to the Potawatomi community, and the Crandon Clinic, which offers a range of outpatient services.

According to the United States Census Bureau, Forest County has a total area of 1,046 square miles (2,710 km2), of which 1,014 square miles (2,630 km2) is land and 32 square miles (83 km2) (3.1%) is water. The population density is 9.2 inhabitants per square mile (3.5/km2).
The United States Department of Health and Human Services reports that in 2019, the leading causes of death in Forest County were heart disease, cancer, and unintentional injuries. The county also has a higher than average rate of smoking and obesity compared to the rest of Wisconsin.
