Fort Collins
Fort Collins is a city located in Larimer County, Colorado, United States. It is the fourth most populous city in Colorado, and is situated on the Cache La Poudre River along the Colorado Front Range.

Fort Collins was founded as a military outpost of the United States Army in 1864. It succeeded a previous encampment, known as Camp Collins, on the Cache La Poudre River, near what is known today as Laporte. Camp Collins was erected during the Indian wars of the mid-1860s to protect the Overland mail route that had been recently relocated through the region.
Geography[edit | edit source]
Fort Collins is located in the Colorado Front Range region of the Southern Rocky Mountains, with the Rocky Mountain National Park to the west. The city experiences a semi-arid climate, with four distinct seasons.
Economy[edit | edit source]
The economy of Fort Collins is a mix of manufacturing, services, and education. The city is home to Colorado State University, which is the city's largest employer. Other significant economic activities include brewing, health care, and technology companies.

Fort Collins is served by Interstate 25, as well as several state highways and county roads. The city also has a public transportation system, Transfort, and is served by the Fort Collins-Loveland Municipal Airport.
