Fort Wayne is a city located in the U.S. state of Indiana. It is the second-largest city in the state and the 77th largest city in the United States. The city is located in the northeastern part of the state, approximately 18 miles west of the Ohio border and 50 miles south of the Michigan border.

Fort Wayne's history dates back to 10,000 BC when Native American tribes first inhabited the area. The city was established by American troops in 1794, after the Battle of Fallen Timbers, and named after General "Mad" Anthony Wayne. It grew in importance due to its strategic location at the confluence of three rivers: the St. Joseph, the St. Marys, and the Maumee River.

Fort Wayne's economy is diverse, with manufacturing, healthcare, and education being the largest sectors. Major employers include General Motors, Lincoln Financial Group, and Parkview Health. The city is also home to several higher education institutions, including Indiana University – Purdue University Fort Wayne and University of Saint Francis.

Fort Wayne is known for its vibrant arts scene, with numerous galleries, theaters, and music venues. The city hosts several annual festivals, including the Three Rivers Festival and the Johnny Appleseed Festival. Fort Wayne has a mayor-council government, with a mayor elected every four years. The city council consists of nine members, six of whom are elected by district and three at-large.

Fort Wayne is served by the Fort Wayne International Airport and several major highways, including Interstates 69, 469, and U.S. Route 30.
