- Fox Island is a small island and census-designated place (CDP) in Pierce County, Washington, United States. It is located approximately 5 miles (8 km) from Gig Harbor. The island was named Fox by Charles Wilkes during the United States Exploring Expedition, to honor J.L. Fox, an assistant surgeon on the expedition.

- Fox Island is located in the southern part of Puget Sound and is connected to the mainland by the Fox Island Bridge. The island is approximately 6.2 square miles (16 km2) in size.
Demographics[edit | edit source]
- As of the 2010 census, there were 3,633 people, 1,389 households, and 1,037 families residing in the CDP. The population density was 586.8 people per square mile (226.6/km²).
