Fritz Fischer KZ-Arzt

Fritz Fischer (5 October 1912 – 2003) was a German medical doctor and SS officer who was involved in Nazi human experimentation during World War II. He was a member of the Schutzstaffel (SS) and worked at the Ravensbrück concentration camp.

Early Life and Education[edit | edit source]

Fritz Fischer was born on 5 October 1912 in Berlin, Germany. He pursued his medical studies at the University of Berlin, where he graduated with a degree in medicine. Fischer joined the Nazi Party and the SS in the 1930s.

World War II and Nazi Human Experimentation[edit | edit source]

During World War II, Fischer was assigned to the Ravensbrück concentration camp, where he conducted medical experiments on prisoners. These experiments were part of the broader Nazi human experimentation program, which aimed to advance Nazi eugenics and medical knowledge through unethical and inhumane methods.

Fischer's experiments included testing the effects of various drugs and surgical procedures on the prisoners, often resulting in severe injury or death. His work at Ravensbrück was part of the larger Holocaust atrocities committed by the Nazi regime.

Post-War Trial and Conviction[edit | edit source]

After the war, Fischer was arrested and tried at the Doctors' Trial, one of the Nuremberg Trials held to prosecute prominent members of the Nazi medical establishment. He was found guilty of war crimes and crimes against humanity and was sentenced to life imprisonment. Fischer was released from prison in the 1950s.

Later Life and Death[edit | edit source]

Following his release, Fischer lived a relatively quiet life away from the public eye. He passed away in 2003.
