Gaelynn Lea is an American musician and disability rights advocate. She is best known for her unique style of violin playing and her advocacy work for people with disabilities.

Gaelynn Lea was born on May 3, 1984, in Duluth, Minnesota. She was born with a condition called osteogenesis imperfecta, also known as brittle bone disease, which has caused her bones to be fragile and prone to fractures.

Music Career[edit | edit source]

Lea began playing the violin at a young age and developed her own distinctive style of playing, which involves holding the violin upright like a cello. She gained widespread recognition after winning the 2016 NPR Tiny Desk Contest with her song "Someday We'll Linger in the Sun."

Since then, Lea has released several albums and performed at venues across the United States and internationally. Her music is known for its haunting melodies and introspective lyrics.
