Get Out
Get Out is a 2017 American horror film written and directed by Jordan Peele in his directorial debut. The film stars Daniel Kaluuya, Allison Williams, Bradley Whitford, Caleb Landry Jones, Stephen Root, and Catherine Keener. The film follows a young African-American man who uncovers a disturbing secret when he meets the family of his white girlfriend.
Plot[edit | edit source]
The story centers on Chris Washington (Daniel Kaluuya), a young African-American photographer, and his white girlfriend, Rose Armitage (Allison Williams). Chris is apprehensive about meeting Rose's family, but she reassures him that her family is not racist. Upon arriving at the Armitage estate, Chris meets Rose's parents, neurosurgeon Dean (Bradley Whitford) and hypnotherapist Missy (Catherine Keener), and her brother Jeremy (Caleb Landry Jones). Chris notices strange behavior from the African-American staff, housekeeper Georgina and groundskeeper Walter. Missy hypnotizes Chris to cure his smoking addiction, but he experiences disturbing visions. During the Armitages' annual party, Chris meets several guests who make uncomfortable comments about race. He also meets Jim Hudson (Stephen Root), a blind art dealer who expresses interest in Chris's photography. Chris's friend Rod (Lil Rel Howery), a TSA officer, becomes concerned when Chris stops answering his calls. Rod investigates and discovers that several African-Americans have gone missing in the area. Chris eventually uncovers the Armitages' secret: they transplant the brains of their elderly friends into the bodies of young African-Americans, allowing them to live longer lives. Chris manages to escape the Armitage estate, killing Dean, Missy, and Jeremy in the process. He is confronted by Rose, but Rod arrives just in time to rescue him. The film ends with Chris and Rod driving away from the estate.
