Gilan

Gilan is a province located in the northern part of Iran, along the southwestern coast of the Caspian Sea. The capital city of Gilan is Rasht. The province is known for its rich history, diverse culture, and beautiful landscapes.

Gilan is bordered by the Caspian Sea to the north, and the provinces of Ardabil to the west, Qazvin to the south, and Mazandaran to the east. The province covers an area of approximately 14,042 square kilometers.

The history of Gilan dates back to ancient times. It was part of the Median Empire and later the Achaemenid Empire. The region has been influenced by various cultures and civilizations throughout history, including the Sassanid Empire, the Arab Caliphate, and the Seljuk Turks.

The economy of Gilan is primarily based on agriculture, with rice being the main crop. The province is also known for its tea plantations, silk production, and fish farming.
