Gilan Province

Gilan Province is one of the 31 provinces of Iran, located in the north of the country, along the coast of the Caspian Sea. The province is known for its rich history, diverse culture, and unique cuisine.

Gilan Province is bordered by the Caspian Sea to the north, Mazandaran Province to the east, Qazvin Province to the south, and Ardabil Province to the west. The province is divided into several counties, including Rasht County, Anzali County, and Lahijan County, among others.

The history of Gilan Province dates back to ancient times. It was part of the Median Empire and later the Achaemenid Empire. The province has seen numerous invasions and conquests, including by the Mongols, Safavids, and Qajars.
