    Google Assistant is an artificial intelligence-powered virtual assistant developed by Google that is primarily available on mobile and smart home devices. Unlike the company's previous virtual assistant, Google Now, Google Assistant can engage in two-way conversations.

    Google Assistant was unveiled during Google's developer conference in May 2016 as part of the unveiling of the Google Home smart speaker. It was initially released as part of the Google Allo messaging app and the Google Home smart speaker. In 2017, it was made available on Android and iOS devices, including smartphones and tablets.
