Gram

Gram is a unit of mass in the metric system that is equivalent to one thousandth of a kilogram. The term "gram" is derived from the Greek word "gramma," which means "small weight."

History

The gram was originally defined in 1795 as the absolute weight of a volume of pure water equal to a cube of one hundredth of a meter, and at the temperature of melting ice. Usage
