Greenwich is a town in Fairfield County, Connecticut, United States. As of the 2020 census, the town had a total population of 63,518. The town is named after Greenwich in England. It is the southernmost and westernmost municipality in Connecticut, as well as in the six-state region of New England.

Greenwich was settled in 1640 by the Siwanoy Indians and was purchased by Robert Feake and Daniel Patrick. The town played a significant role during the American Revolutionary War, with the Battle of Greenwich being a notable event.
Geography[edit | edit source]
Greenwich is located in southwestern Connecticut, bordered to the west by New York and to the south by Long Island Sound. The town has a total area of 174.0 square kilometers, of which 123.8 square kilometers is land and 50.2 square kilometers is water.

As of the 2020 census, Greenwich had a population of 63,518. The town is known for its affluent residents and high standard of living. The median household income is among the highest in the United States.

Greenwich operates under a representative town meeting form of government. The town's chief executive is the First Selectman, currently Fred Camillo.

Greenwich is served by the Greenwich Public Schools system, which includes several elementary, middle, and high schools. The town is also home to several private schools and institutions of higher learning.
