Grundy County is a county located in the U.S. state of Tennessee. As of the 2020 census, the population was 13,703. Its county seat is Altamont.

Grundy County was established in 1844 from parts of Warren, Coffee, and Franklin counties. It was named in honor of Felix Grundy, a U.S. Senator and Attorney General.
The county has a rich history tied to the coal mining industry, which was a major economic driver in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. The Tracy City area was particularly known for its coal production.

Grundy County is located on the Cumberland Plateau, a region known for its rugged terrain and scenic beauty. The county is characterized by its mountainous landscapes, with elevations ranging from 1,800 to 2,000 feet above sea level.
