Gut is a monthly peer-reviewed medical journal on gastroenterology and hepatology. It is the journal of the British Society of Gastroenterology and is published by BMJ Group. The journal was established in 1960 and the editor-in-chief is Emad El-Omar (University of New South Wales).

The journal was established in 1960. The founding editor was Sir Francis Avery Jones. The journal is published by the BMJ Group on behalf of the British Society of Gastroenterology.

The journal publishes articles on the subject of gastroenterology and hepatology. It covers research on the alimentary tract, liver, biliary tree, and pancreas. The journal publishes original papers, review articles, and leading articles.

The journal is abstracted and indexed in PubMed, MEDLINE, Scopus, and the Science Citation Index. According to the Journal Citation Reports, the journal has a 2019 impact factor of 19.819.
