Haribo is a German confectionery company, founded in 1920 by Johannes "Hans" Riegel, Sr. It is known for producing gummy and jelly sweets such as Gold Bears, Tangfastics, and Starmix. Haribo is headquartered in Bonn and the name is an acronym for Hans Riegel, Bonn.

Johannes "Hans" Riegel, Sr., a confectioner from Bonn, started the Haribo company in 1920. From the beginning, it was a small-scale confectionery business that grew over time. The company's breakthrough came in 1922 with the creation of the Gummy bear, a product that would become synonymous with the Haribo brand.
