Harrogate and District NHS Foundation Trust is an NHS hospital trust that operates Harrogate District Hospital in Harrogate, North Yorkshire, England. The trust was established on 1 January 2005 and is responsible for the management and performance of the hospital. It has a board of governors elected by trust members, representing the public, staff, and stakeholder organizations. The chairman of the trust is Sandra Dodson and the chief executive is Dr Ros Tolcher.

Staffing

Harrogate District Hospital is the largest employer in Harrogate, with approximately 2,500 staff members. The trust has been recognized for its excellence in various areas, including patient safety, cleanliness, and waiting times. It received a 'Double Excellent' rating from the Care Quality Commission in 2008-2009 and an 'Excellent' rating in the Patient Environmental Action Team (PEAT) assessment in 2010. In 2015, it was named one of the top hundred NHS trusts to work for by the Health Service Journal. At that time, it had 2,911 full-time equivalent staff and a sickness absence rate of 4%. The majority of staff recommended the trust for treatment and as a place to work.

In an effort to reduce spending on medical agency staff, the trust awarded a three-year contract to Comensura, a labour supply management specialist, in March 2015. The trust also established a subsidiary company, Harrogate Healthcare Facilities Management Ltd, in 2017, transferring 300 estates and facilities staff to achieve VAT benefits and pay bill savings.
