Heath Black

Heath Black is a former professional Australian rules footballer who played in the Australian Football League (AFL). He was known for his skills as a midfielder and his ability to play both inside and outside roles on the field.

Early Life[edit | edit source]

Heath Black was born on 28 May 1979 in Victoria, Australia. He grew up in a sports-oriented family and developed a passion for Australian rules football at a young age. Black played junior football with the Noble Park Football Club before being recruited to the AFL.

AFL Career[edit | edit source]

Heath Black was drafted by the Fremantle Football Club with the 12th pick in the 1996 AFL Draft. He made his debut in the 1997 season and quickly established himself as a talented midfielder. Black played for Fremantle from 1997 to 2001, during which he became known for his speed and precise kicking.

In 2002, Black was traded to the St Kilda Football Club, where he continued to impress with his performances. He played for St Kilda until 2004, contributing significantly to the team's midfield strength.

In 2005, Black returned to Fremantle, where he played until his retirement in 2008. Over his career, he played a total of 192 AFL games and scored 84 goals.

After retiring from professional football, Heath Black has been involved in various media and community activities. He has worked as a commentator and analyst for AFL broadcasts and has been active in promoting mental health awareness, drawing on his own experiences to help others.
