Hot Springs County, Wyoming

Hot Springs County is a county located in the U.S. state of Wyoming. As of the 2010 census, the population was 4,812, making it the second-least populous county in Wyoming. Its county seat is Thermopolis. The county is named for the hot springs located in Hot Springs State Park.

Geography[edit | edit source]

Hot Springs County encompasses a total area of 2,006 square miles, of which 2,004 square miles is land and 1.6 square miles is water. The county is located in the central part of Wyoming and is bordered by Washakie County to the north, Fremont County to the west, and Park County to the east.

Demographics[edit | edit source]

As of the 2010 census, there were 4,812 people, 2,108 households, and 1,365 families residing in the county. The population density was 2.4 inhabitants per square mile. The racial makeup of the county was 95.9% white, 1.0% American Indian, 0.3% black or African American, 0.2% Asian, 0.1% Pacific Islander, 0.7% from other races, and 1.8% from two or more races. Those of Hispanic or Latino origin made up 3.3% of the population.

Hot Springs County Memorial Hospital is a 25-bed critical access hospital located in Thermopolis, Wyoming. The hospital provides a comprehensive range of medical services, including emergency care, surgical services, radiology, laboratory services, and rehabilitation. The hospital also operates a skilled nursing facility, the Thermopolis Rehabilitation and Wellness.
