Hrithik Roshan (born 10 January 1974) is an Indian actor who appears in Bollywood films. He has portrayed a variety of characters and is known for his dancing skills. One of the highest-paid actors in India, he has won numerous awards, including six Filmfare Awards, four for Best Actor and one each for Best Debut and Best Actor (Critics). Starting in 2012, he appeared in Forbes India's Celebrity 100 based on his income and popularity.

Early Life and Background[edit | edit source]

Hrithik Roshan was born in Mumbai to a family prominent in Bollywood. His father, Rakesh Roshan, is a film director, and his mother, Pinky Roshan, is the daughter of producer and director J. Om Prakash. He has an older sister, Sunaina Roshan. Roshan attended the Bombay Scottish School and later graduated from Sydenham College with a bachelor's degree in commerce.

Debut and Early Success (2000-2002)[edit | edit source]

Hrithik Roshan made his film debut in 2000 with the box-office success Kaho Naa... Pyaar Hai, directed by his father. The film earned him the Filmfare Award for Best Actor and Filmfare Award for Best Male Debut. He followed this with leading roles in Fiza (2000) and Mission Kashmir (2000), both of which were moderately successful.

Established Actor (2003-2010)[edit | edit source]

In 2003, Roshan starred in the science fiction film Koi... Mil Gaya, which was a major turning point in his career. The film was a commercial success and earned him his second Filmfare Award for Best Actor. He continued to achieve success with films like Krrish (2006), a sequel to Koi... Mil Gaya, and Dhoom 2 (2006), which became the highest-grossing Indian film of the year.

Recent Work (2011-present)[edit | edit source]

Roshan's performance in Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara (2011) was critically acclaimed, and the film was a commercial success. He continued to star in successful films such as Agneepath (2012), Krrish 3 (2013), and Bang Bang! (2014). In 2019, he starred in Super 30, a biographical drama, and War, an action thriller, both of which were commercially successful.

Hrithik Roshan married Sussanne Khan in 2000, and they have two sons, Hrehaan and Hridhaan. The couple divorced in 2014. Roshan is known for his fitness and has launched his own clothing line, HRX.
