Humphrey William Bouverie Carpenter (1946-2005) was an English biographer, writer, and radio broadcaster. He was known for his biographies of notable figures in literature and music.

Carpenter was born on April 29, 1946, in Oxford, England. He studied at Keble College, Oxford, where he developed a passion for writing and literature.
