Hunter's Point South

Hunter's Point South is a development project located in the Long Island City neighborhood of Queens, New York City. The project is situated on approximately 30 acres of waterfront land and is one of the most significant new developments in New York City.

The development of Hunter's Point South was initiated by the New York City Economic Development Corporation (NYCEDC) and the Department of Housing Preservation and Development (HPD). The project was first announced in 2008 as part of Mayor Michael Bloomberg's plan to increase affordable housing in the city.

Development[edit | edit source]

The development of Hunter's Point South is divided into several phases. The first phase, which includes two mixed-use buildings, was completed in 2015. The second phase, which includes additional residential buildings and a school, is currently under construction.

Architecture[edit | edit source]

The architecture of Hunter's Point South is characterized by its modern design and its integration with the surrounding waterfront. The buildings were designed by a team of architects including SHoP Architects and Ismael Leyva Architects.

Amenities[edit | edit source]

Hunter's Point South includes a variety of amenities for residents and visitors. These include a five-acre waterfront park, a new school, and retail spaces. The park, designed by Thomas Balsley Associates and Weiss/Manfredi, features a playground, a dog run, and a kayak launch.

Transportation[edit | edit source]

Hunter's Point South is served by several modes of transportation. The New York City Subway's 7 train stops at the Vernon Boulevard-Jackson Avenue station, which is a short walk from the development. The East River Ferry also stops at Hunter's Point South, providing a direct link to Manhattan.
