Inclusion Healthcare

From WikiMD's Wellness Encyclopedia

Inclusion Healthcare is a Community Interest Company (CIC) based in Leicester, UK. It was established in September 2010 as part of the Transforming Community Services initiative. The organization provides publicly funded health and social care services at two clinics in Leicester for 900 homeless and vulnerable individuals.

The core team of Inclusion Healthcare consists of 12 former employees of Leicester City Primary Care Trust, who previously worked as Leicester Homeless Healthcare. After a year of employment, staff members become shareholders, allowing them to participate in decision-making processes.

In December 2014, Paymaster General Francis Maude mentioned Inclusion Healthcare in a speech about the Better Care Fund. He praised the organization for providing care without the bureaucracy and auditing associated with the NHS. Maude shared an example of how Inclusion Healthcare helped a homeless man by paying for his dog's care while he received hospital treatment. This payment prevented the need for an expensive leg amputation and long-term disability payments.

In February 2015, the Care Quality Commission rated Inclusion Healthcare as "outstanding" following a visit.
