Iranian Azerbaijan
Iranian Azerbaijan is a region located in the northwestern part of Iran. It is also known as South Azerbaijan or Southern Azerbaijan. The region is home to a significant Azerbaijani population, who share cultural and historical ties with the people of the Republic of Azerbaijan.

Iranian Azerbaijan is bordered by the countries of Armenia, Turkey, and the Republic of Azerbaijan. The region is divided into three provinces: East Azerbaijan, West Azerbaijan, and Ardabil Province. The region's largest city is Tabriz, which serves as the capital of East Azerbaijan Province.

The history of Iranian Azerbaijan dates back to ancient times. The region was part of the Median Empire and later the Achaemenid Empire. It was conquered by Alexander the Great and later became part of the Sasanian Empire. After the Islamic conquest of Iran, the region became a center of Persian culture and learning. In the 19th century, following the Russo-Persian Wars, the region was divided between Iran and the Russian Empire, with the northern part becoming what is now the Republic of Azerbaijan.

The culture of Iranian Azerbaijan is a blend of Persian and Azerbaijani influences. The region is known for its rich literary tradition, including the 12th-century poet Nizami Ganjavi. The Azerbaijani language, a Turkic language, is widely spoken in the region. The region is also known for its unique cuisine, which includes dishes such as dolma, pilaf, and kebab.
