Islip is a town in Suffolk County, New York, United States. It is located on the south shore of Long Island.

The town of Islip was founded in 1683. It was named after Islip, Northamptonshire, the ancestral home of William Nicoll, who purchased the land from the local Native American tribes.

Islip is situated on the south shore of Long Island, bordered by the Great South Bay to the south. The town covers a total area of 163.1 square miles, of which 105.3 square miles is land and 57.8 square miles is water.
