Izvitskaya's breakthrough came with her role in The Forty-First (1956), directed by Grigori Chukhrai. In the film, she played the role of Maria, a Red Army sniper during the Russian Civil War, who captures a White Army officer. Following the success of The Forty-First, Izvitskaya appeared in several other films, including The Precipice (1958) and Farewell, America (1959). Despite the promise of a stellar career, her life and work were cut short by her untimely death.
