James A. Bell

James A. Bell is an American businessman and former corporate president, executive vice president and chief financial officer (CFO) of The Boeing Company. He served as interim CEO of Boeing from March 2015 to July 2015.

Early Life and Education[edit | edit source]

James A. Bell was born in Los Angeles, California. He attended California State University, Los Angeles, where he received a bachelor's degree in Accounting.

Career[edit | edit source]

Bell began his career in 1972 at the Rockwell International aerospace manufacturing firm, where he served in the finance department. In 1996, he joined The Boeing Company, one of the world's largest aerospace manufacturers and defense contractors.

At Boeing, Bell held several key positions, including CFO and corporate president. He was responsible for the company's financial management, including strategic planning and corporate development. He also oversaw Boeing's Shared Services Group, which provides a wide range of services to Boeing worldwide.

In March 2015, following the resignation of CEO Jim McNerney, Bell was appointed as interim CEO. He served in this role until July 2015, when Dennis Muilenburg took over as CEO.

Bell is a member of several corporate boards, including Apple Inc., JP Morgan Chase, and Dow Chemical Company. He also serves on the board of trustees for Chicago's Museum of Science and Industry and is a member of the Chicago Urban League.

Awards and Recognition[edit | edit source]

Bell has received numerous awards for his leadership and contributions to the business community, including the 2010 CFO of the Year award from the Wall Street Journal.
