James Guy was born on November 26, 1995, in Bury, Greater Manchester, England. He began swimming at a young age and quickly showed promise in the sport. Guy trained at the Millfield School in Somerset, which is renowned for its swimming program.

Junior Career[edit | edit source]
James Guy first gained international attention as a junior swimmer. He competed in the 2012 European Junior Swimming Championships, where he won multiple medals, showcasing his potential on the international stage.

James Guy made his senior international debut at the 2013 World Aquatics Championships in Barcelona, where he competed in the 400m freestyle. He continued to improve and by the 2014 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, he had established himself as one of Britain's top swimmers.

At the 2015 World Aquatics Championships in Kazan, James Guy won his first major international gold medal in the 200m freestyle. He also contributed to Great Britain's gold medal in the 4x200m freestyle relay.

James Guy competed in the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro. He won two silver medals as part of the British relay teams in the 4x100m medley relay and the 4x200m freestyle relay.

At the 2017 World Aquatics Championships in Budapest, Guy won a bronze medal in the 100m butterfly and a gold medal in the 4x200m freestyle relay.
