NLN James Molinaro

James Molinaro (born March 11, 1931) is an American politician who served as the Borough President of Staten Island, New York City from 2002 to 2013. He is a member of the Conservative Party of New York State and has also been affiliated with the Republican Party.

Early Life and Education[edit | edit source]

James Molinaro was born and raised in the Bensonhurst neighborhood of Brooklyn, New York City. He attended local schools and graduated from New Utrecht High School.

Political Career[edit | edit source]

Molinaro began his political career as a member of the Conservative Party of New York State. He was first elected to public office in 1990 as a member of the New York City Council, representing the 50th district, which includes parts of Staten Island.

In 2001, Molinaro was elected as the Borough President of Staten Island, succeeding Guy Molinari. He was re-elected in 2005 and 2009, serving three consecutive terms until 2013. During his tenure, Molinaro focused on issues such as transportation, education, and public safety.

As Borough President, Molinaro was instrumental in advocating for the expansion of the Staten Island Ferry service and improvements to the Staten Island Expressway. He also worked on initiatives to enhance the public school system on Staten Island and supported various community development projects.
