Jean Nidetch was an American entrepreneur and the co-founder of Weight Watchers, a popular weight loss program. Born on October 12, 1923, in Brooklyn, New York, Nidetch struggled with her own weight issues throughout her life. In 1961, she decided to take control of her health and began attending meetings at a local obesity clinic.

During these meetings, Nidetch found inspiration and motivation from sharing her experiences with others who were also trying to lose weight. She realized the power of group support and accountability in achieving weight loss goals. This experience led her to create Weight Watchers in 1963, along with her husband Albert Nidetch and a friend, Felice Lippert.
